The Mint coming to Scottsdale in April

By Jess Harter Friday, February 25, 2011

Johnny Chu, chef-owner of Sens Asian Tapas in Phoenix, has been hired to create an Asian tapas menu for The Mint, a trendy restaurant and “ultra lounge” scheduled to open in Scottsdale’s nightlife district in April.

The Mint, which takes over a former bank building (hence the name) on Camelback east of Scottsdale Road, is the brainchild of Dean Slover, whose other concepts include Sandbar and RnR.

On The Mint’s Facebook page, Slover says:

In a nod to its past, The Mint’s centerpiece is the original vault door, while updated touches evoke a Hollywood Regency design influence.

The luxurious interior also will feature dark woods, Marron Cohiba marble and fireplaces. There also will be a 4,000-square-foot patio, which it claims will be Scottsdale’s largest.
