Chandler mom banned from 6 E.V. McDonald’s after You Tube exposé

By Jess Harter Wednesday, October 26, 2011

Chandler resident Erin Carr-Jordan was appalled by the dirtiness of a McDonald’s playground in Tempe. The mother of four young children complained to the manager. But when the area was still dirty days later, she decided to take matters into her own hands.

Carr-Jordan, who also happens to be an ASU professor with a doctorate in child development, collected samples and sent them to a lab – and discovered what she says are pathogens that threaten children’s health.

She shared her findings in a shocking You Tube video:

Within months, Carr-Jordan had documented similar findings at McDonald’s in 13 states, and become the subject of newspaper and TV stories nationwide.

This week, though, Carr-Jordan received a surprise: a hand-delivered letter banning her from eight Valley McDonald’s, including these in Chandler and Gilbert:

  • Baseline & Gilbert, Gilbert
  • Baseline & Val Vista, Gilbert
  • Guadalupe & Val Vista, Gilbert
  • Germann & Gilbert, Chandler
  • Queen Creek & Alma School, Chandler
  • Chandler Heights & Alma School, Chandler

A McDonald’s spokesperson says Carr-Jordan was banned because she is “disruptive” to employees and customers. Carr-Jordan says she simply warns people about a dangerous health situation.

Do you think McDonald’s is making a bad situation worse?
