Opening today: Postino in Gilbert

By Jess Harter Monday, March 19, 2012

Postino Gilbert AZThe day has finally arrived: Postino East, the second spinoff of Arcadia’s popular wine cafe, opens at 11 a.m. today in downtown Gilbert.

Located on the northwest corner of Gilbert and Page, Postino takes over the southern half of the former GrainBelt GrillHouse building, which has undergone extensive renovations.

(The other half of the building has yet to be leased after a potential agreement with Barrio Cafe fell through last year.)

Postino’s original Arcadia location was the first in the Valley to jump on the now-familiar concept: An industrial-minimalist decor, comfortable chairs and sofas, $5 glasses of wine, and a simple menu of noshes.

Postino East’s menu – 11 types of bruschetta (four for $13.50), eight panini sandwiches ($9.75), and four salads ($8.75-$9.75) – is identical to the other locations.

The $5 glasses of wine, along with $5 pitchers of beer, are available 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week. There’s also a $20 special – a bottle of wine and bruschetta – after 8 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays.

Postino adds another dining destination to an already busy intersection in Gilbert’s historic downtown. Joe’s Real BBQ is on the northeast corner, and Liberty Market is on the southwest corner.

Other restaurants near the intersection include The Farmhouse, Romeo’s Euro Cafe and Oregano’s.
