Valley restaurants vie for best-wings title at Wingstock 2012 on Saturday

Wingstock 2011 Mesa AZTempe eatery NY Boyz Subz & Wingz returns to defend its “King of Wings” title at Wingstock 2012 Saturday at Mesa Amphitheatre.

Billed as “Where Music & Chicken Meat,” the 6-hour festival features live music and chicken wings.

Other restaurants participating include Native New Yorker, Long Wong’s, Teakwoods, Antars, Fat Willy’s, Tilted Kilt, Cactus Moon, Diamond’s, Jimbo’s, and Cogburn’s.

Wingstock 2011 Mesa AZAttendees can buy coupons (four for $3, or 14 for $10) at the event to sample the wings (1 coupon each). Beer, spirits, soda, bottled water, and milk also will be sold.

There will be a contest to determine who can eat the most wings in seven minutes, as well as who has the hottest wings.

The musical lineup: Pete and the Shortcummings, Johnny Anonymous, and Darkness Dear Boy.

A free Kids Zone will feature bounce houses and a face painter.

Advance tickets for Wingstock are $8 (admission & 4 coupons) or $20 (admission & 20 coupons). Tickets at the gate will be $10 (admission & 4 coupons). Children 10 and under get in free.

The festival runs 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
