Phoenix Ale Brewery, Sonoran Brewing announce pact to combine forces

Sonoran BrewingThe Phoenix Ale Brewery and Sonoran Brewing Company have announced they’re combining forces. The two companies have reached an agreement to brew Sonoran’s beers at Phoenix Ale Brewery’s facility in Phoenix.

Sonoran, which launched in 1996, has been using a small brewery at Pinnacle Peak Patio in north Scottsdale to produce its beers, including its flagship White Chocolate Ale.

The move allows Sonoran to increase its annual output. Phoenix Ale Brewery, which opened in 2011 at Washington and 30th Street, also has the packaging facilities to handle the sales of both companies’ ales.

“The expanded production available will allow us to fulfill demand for Sonoran beers and very soon offer a variety of our ales in 12-ounce bottles,” says Sonoran co-owner Layrd Mahler.

Zach Schroeder, Sonoran’s other owner and brewmaster (pictured with Mahler), will join the brewing staff of Phoenix Ale Brewery and brew beers for both companies.

The companies will host a reception at Phoenix Ale Brewery’s taproom at 5 p.m. Thursday to celebrate the brewing agreement.
