Monsterland – the horror-themed museum, restaurant, and nightclub in downtown Mesa – is attempting to rise from the dead.

Owner Kevin Wynn, who converted his seasonal haunted house in September 2011 and then closed it in January of this year, has announced on Facebook that Monsterland will reopen with a “Resurrection Party” on Aug. 24. The catch? It only will open for occasional one-off events.

Wynn has no plans to re-open the kitchen or bar on a regular basis while light-rail construction is clogging up downtown Mesa. And that work isn’t expected to be finished until late 2015 or early 2016.

During its 16-month run as a restaurant and bar, Monsterland served up surprisingly good burgers, sandwiches, and wings. Its 20 beer taps poured only Arizona microbrews.

It’s Wine Wednesday!

It’s Wednesday, which means deals on wine around the East Valley…
