Yikes! Chao Urban Asian Eatery, which opened less than 10 months ago on the northeast corner of Dobson and Germann in Chandler, has closed.

Chao was the offshoot of tiny Latitude Eight Thai Grill, which enjoyed a successful five-year run in downtown Chandler before Charm Thai took over the space last December.

Chao, named for a river in Thailand, included several Latitude Eight dishes on the menu, but also explored other Asian cuisines.

The stylish restaurant, a rumored $1 million build-out, featured a bar area, a dining area, a large private dining room, and a huge wrap-around patio.
