The House of Brews, a 50-tap craft beer bar and grill on the southeast corner of Cooper and Warner in Gilbert, debuts a new food menu and a new happy hour today.

The makeover comes courtesy of new leadership – general manager Patrick Cawthorne and chef James Porch – recently brought on board by Glenn “Buzz” Bezuyen, who bought HOB in 2013.

Cawthorne is a Philly native whose resume ranges from mom-and-pop spots to corporate sports bars. He most recently worked at The Pink Pony in Scottsdale.

Porch has more than two decades of experience in restaurant kitchens. His previous post was the Troon-managed Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa.

HOBAhiTunaSaladThe pair have streamlined House of Brews’ menu – it’s now a single page – and tightened its focus on pub-friendly fare.

“We want to serve great craft beer with great food to go with it,” Cawthorne says. “We’re also going to provide great service.”

The popular macaroni and cheese ($10) remains on the menu, but is joined by five variations ranging from chipotle chorizo to green chili pork.

Portobello pasta with a red bell pepper sauce ($13) has been a bestseller during sneak previews of new menu items, and Porch is excited about the mahi-mahi with sweet chili-pineapple sauce ($14).

Cherry porter chicken ($12) features a braised chicken thigh infused with Historic Brewing’s cherry vanilla porter from Flagstaff.

HOBPorkChopNew sandwiches include Kalua pulled pork topped with house slaw ($9, pictured at top), pork belly with pickled onion ($10), and Arizona-sourced roast beef with caramelized onions and gruyere ($10).

Other standouts include an ahi tuna salad ($14, pictured above), coconut shrimp with a Caribbean sauce ($10), and a root beer pork chop ($15, pictured).

New hours for happy hour will be 3:30-6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Specials will include $1 off all 50 craft beers on tap, $2 off all appetizers, and $3 well drinks.

New weekly specials will be announced soon.
