MXSW reader Justin Azelton points out the location on the northeast corner of Cooper and Ray just closed. The Mesa-based concept once had numerous restaurants in the Valley as well as around the state.

According to a post on the Gilbert location’s Facebook page:

We have all mutually decided to end the final chapter of Famous Sam’s in the valley.

After almost 17 years in business, we have made SO many dear friends, but due to financial circumstances and legal issues with our license, we have decided to close the doors.

Rest assured, your local neighborhood pub will eventually reopen. Just not under its current name or management.

I cherish every moment and every person that I have met over the years. You truly are a family to me. Perhaps my only family.

However, things change. And let’s all look forward to a brighter future together.

I truly, from the bottom of my heart, want to thank the wonderful crew that I have had the pleasure of working with over the years. I love you more than you know!

Owner/operator
