The new concept, which describes itself as “soul food blended with Mexican ingredients,” is located on the northeast corner of Terrace and Apache (map) in the same strip mall as Curry Corner.

“We wanted to bring something different to Tempe,” owner Dave Knapp says. “We are open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and then after-midnight for that late night crowd. On the weekends we will serve our full menu until 3 a.m.”

JorgesWaffleConeThe namesake dish is available straight ($11.99), breakfast style with scrambled eggs and country gravy ($12.99), or dinner style with jalapeño cole slaw, corn bread, and gravy.

Also available: A Chicken Waffle Cone appetizer with sliced chicken and cole slaw stuffed in a cone ($6.99, pictured).

The rest of the menu offers seven kinds of waffles (including sweet potato and gluten-free) and four scrambles for breakfast, and tacos, burritos, and burgers for lunch and dinner. (See menu)
