An MXSW reader tipped me off about the suddenly empty neighborhood bar and grill, which had opened in March 2011 on the southeast corner of 48th Street and Warner.

The building previously had housed Vine Tavern & Eatery and, several years before, popular Shannon Alexander’s.

Public House Garage opened at the height of the Valley’s gastropub frenzy, offering better-than-average comfort food, craft beers, and specialty drinks.

The faux gas station decor featured booths upholstered like automobile seats and roll-up garage doors.

No explanation for the closure is given on the venue’s website or Facebook page. There are rumors it may reopen in the West Valley.
