The weekly five-course dinners, hosted by chef Romeo Taus and his wife, Janice, in a private dining room, highlight a rotating selection from the regular menu at Romeo’s Euro Cafe in Gilbert.

This week’s dinner will be complemented by higher-end wines, so the price will be $75 per person (plus tax and tip) instead of the usual $37.

April 23 “Taste of Romeo’s” menu:

  • Mezzogiorno: Roasted red peppers, peas, artichoke hearts, and fresh mozzarella cheese in a pesto Dijon vinaigrette.
  • Balsamic Steak Salad: Grilled steak tossed in extra virgin olive oil, balsamic, vinegar with roasted red peppers, scallions, tomatoes, mushrooms, red cabbage, artichoke hearts, and sunflower seeds with romaine lettuce.
  • Risi Bisi con Milanesa: Brown rice, black beans, peppadew peppers, hominy, onions, and peas cooked in chicken broth, lightly breaded pan-fried pork cutlets, parsley-cilantro salad, lemon wedges.
  • Andalusian Baked Eggplant (pictured above): Fennel sausage, roasted red peppers, pine nuts, spinach, red onions, scallions and fresh garlic. Sauteed in olive oil, baked over eggplant with feta cheese.
  • Chocolate Cheesecake

Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. Add five wine tastes for $10. RSVP: 480-962-4224.
