Henry’s Taiwan in Tempe closes again, replaced by TC Street Tacos

By Jess Harter Monday, June 29, 2015

Henry’s Taiwan Kitchen, once a well-regarded eatery on the southeast corner of Mill and Southern in Tempe, has closed.

Chef-owner Henry Ku, known for a string of successful Taiwanese restaurants in Seattle, opened Henry’s Taiwan in March 2013.

He added a spinoff, Henry’s Private Kitchen, in Mesa in March 2014.

In May 2014, however, Ku unexpectedly sold his ownership in the Mesa restaurant, which closed earlier this year.

The Tempe restaurant closed briefly in March.

In April, a Tempe businessman named Ben Koo, identified as a co-owner of Henry’s Taiwan, was charged with sex trafficking and prostitution.

This time the restaurant appears closed for good: T.C. Street Tacos has opened in its strip-mall space.
