Looks like Mark’s Cafe in south Tempe will be closing for its usual two-week summer hiatus instead of a planned five-week break.

The neighborhood cafe announced last week it would close Wednesday for chef/owner Mark Vojtek to have shoulder surgery.

His rehab had been expected to take five weeks.

Vojtek’s surgeon, however, had to reschedule the procedure for late July, so the chef decided to put it off for now.

As a result, Mark’s Cafe will close for its normal summer hiatus July 8 and reopen July 25.
