Arizona Beer and Cider Company, the Phoenix-based distributor launched last October by Two Brothers founders Jim and Jason Ebel, has purchased Pitcher of Nectar Distributing.

Tempe-based Pitcher of Nectar, or POND, was founded in 2007 by Tony Piccini (pictured), who announced last month he was leaving the beer business.

His company’s portfolio focused almost solely on craft beers, including Borderlands, Rubicon, Marin, and Moylan’s.

Besides their brewery and two tap houses in the Chicago area, the Ebel brothers also owned Windy City Distribution, which they sold to distribution giant Reyes in 2012 for a reported $50 million.

The money helped the Ebels open Two Brothers Tap House and Brewery in downtown Scottsdale in February.

They also created Arizona Beer and Cider to distribute Two Brothers beers in Arizona, and they’ve since added other brands like Smuttynose and Historic.

The purchase of POND approximately doubles Arizona Beer and Cider’s distribution. It also paves its way into the Tucson and Flagstaff markets.
