The weekly five-course dinners, hosted by chef Romeo Taus and his wife, Janice, in a private dining room, typically highlight a rotating selection from the regular menu at Romeo’s Euro Cafe in Gilbert.

July 30 “Taste of Romeo’s” menu:

  • Feta Dill Fritters: A blend of gyros meat, feta cheese, fresh dill, spinach, and pine nuts. With yogurt sauce.
  • Greek Salad: Tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, green peppers, kalamata olives, and feta cheese in olive oil and red wine vinegar.
  • Balsamic Shrimp de Modena (pictured): Jumbo shrimp, roasted red pepper, hearts of artichoke and palm, roasted garlic, asparagus, and capers in olive oil and balsamic vinegar with freshly grated Romano cheese.
  • Salonika Chicken: Italian sausage, mushrooms, pepperoncinis, garlic, capers, and pine nuts over breast of chicken in orange brandy and white wine.
  • The Mayor: Fudgy dark chocolate cake, finished with a Marion berry liqueur sauce.

Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $27 per person plus tax and tip. Add five wine tastes for $10. RSVP: 480-962-4224.
