Coach & Willie’s, which opened on the southeast corner of Arizona Avenue and Boston Street in downtown Chandler in June 2011, has closed its doors.

Indications are the restaurant was locked out this morning by the building’s landlord. A staff of more than 50 people had been scheduled to work tonight for the start of the college football season.

No explanation about the closing has been posted on Coach & Willie’s social media accounts, but MXSW has learned one is in the works.

Part sports bar, part neighborhood grill, Coach & Willie’s was a spinoff of the original in downtown Phoenix, which was sold in 2012 and became Legends (which itself closed early this year).

Coach & Willie’s was named for the fathers of founders Eric Stoltz and Mark Simonek.
