In the wake of owner Joe Busone’s unexpected death in September, his family has decided to close the Fired Up Grill in Chandler.

An announcement on the restaurant’s Facebook page reads, ‘‘With very heavy hearts we are announcing the closing of Fired Up Grill as of today. We extend our greatest thanks to all our staff, vendors, community and loyal patrons.”

Busone, a popular manager at Buca Di Beppo, was inexplicably fired in 2008, prompting a staff walkout mid-shift that forced the restaurant at Priest and Ray to temporarily close.

A couple months later, Busone (pictured) opened Fired Up Grill a few hundred feet away from Buca. Much of the staff followed him.

Busone passed away Sept. 2. His wife, Cathy, and two children had been running the restaurant since his death.
