1st time ever in Arizona: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale on cask Friday at OHSO

By Jess Harter Thursday, July 21, 2016

Want to learn more about cask beers? OHSO in Arcadia will host a special ‘‘Ask the Cask Manager’’ event at 5 p.m. Friday with Sierra Nevada cask manager Zak Driscoll.

Also taking part will be OHSO’s Josh Goodstein and Scott Brady, and Sierra Nevada rep Ben VanderMeer.

(For the non-beer geeks, cask ales are unfiltered and unpasteurized, and conditioned and served from a cask without the use of carbon dioxide or nitrogen.)

For the first time ever in Arizona, a cask of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale hopped with Mosaic and Nelson will be tapped.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is the No. 2-selling craft beer in the country, but Friday will be an opportunity to taste the so-called ‘‘real’’ version you may never encounter again.

There also will be a cask of OHSO Hoppy Ale with Nelson, mango, and grapefruit on tap.
