3-week summer closure of Asia in Mesa appears to be permanent

By Jess Harter Friday, August 5, 2016

Asia – a small but popular Asian eatery that launched a dozen years ago as Simply Noodles and then was known as sN Asian Pacific, has closed on the northeast corner of Stapley and Baseline in Mesa.

The restaurant abruptly shut down in early June, but owner-chef John Wong explained on Facebook the closure was for just three weeks for renovations and menu touch-ups.

Now, six weeks later, Asia still sits un-renovated, the menu un-touched-up, and diners are wondering if it ever will re-open.

The short answer is no.

Wong isn’t returning messages, but friends and colleagues of the talented chef tell me Asia definitely has closed for good at its current location.

But Asia fans have some hope: Those same sources say Wong is looking for a new location for a restaurant.
