After languishing for months, House of Brews has closed its doors on the southeast corner of Cooper and Warner in Gilbert.

Based on reports from several MXSW readers and some of my own observations, it’s been a tumultuous week for the restaurant and bar.

Late Monday night, two men reportedly arrived and seized control of the establishment, forcing all customers to leave.

Fearing a robbery was taking place, some of the customers went to a nearby bar and called the police. Eventually, they say, they learned the men were sent by the building’s landlord.

When I went by Tuesday, signs on the door indicated House of Brews would be closed for that day. The next day it reopened, but no one was ‘‘available’’ to comment on the situation.

Now, today, it looks like the closure is official.
