Jimmy’s of Chicago, a neighborhood Italian restaurant and sports bar in Gilbert, has closed after nine years in business.

Owners Kerry and Zalena Kersting originally opened Jimmy’s, a popular hangout for Cubs and Bears fans, in a strip mall on the northeast corner of Gilbert and Pecos.

Its menu offered delicious thin-crust pizzas, house-made pastas, and other Italian entrees.

The Kerstings closed Jimmy’s in late December 2014 and reopened it in early January 2015 two miles away on the northeast corner of Lindsay and Williams Field.

The new location featured a slightly larger dining room, a front patio, and twice as many (24) beers on tap.
