Black Rock Coffee Bar in Ocotillo will hold an all-day fundraiser Friday, Aug. 11, for the family of Chandler High teacher Shirley Denning, who was killed July 28 in a fatal car crash on U.S. 93 near Wickenburg.

Denning and boyfriend Alexander Iafrate, a custodian at Chandler High, were driving to Las Vegas to watch her children play in basketball tournaments when the couple’s vehicle struck a semi-truck head-on.

On Friday, all proceeds from the Black Rock Coffee Bar on the southwest corner of Ocotillo and Alma School in south Chandler will go directly to Denning’s family, as will any amounts given as tips during the day.

Friends set up a You Caring account for Denning, which has exceeded its original $20,000 goal. That goal now has been reset for $40,000.

A You Caring account also has been set up for Iafrate’s family.
