The Hoptoberfest & Chili Cook Off will feature more than 40 India Pale Ales on tap, live entertainment, interactive games and a dozen chili chefs battling for supremacy. The event will take place noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Hungry Monk in Chandler.
IPAs that will be on tap include:

- Bells Hop Slam
- Bells Two Hearted Ale
- Dogfish 90 Min
- Firestone Union Jack
- Four Peaks Hop Knot
- Green Flash Imperial
- Green Flash IPA
- SanTan Hopshock IPA
- Lumberberyard IPA
- Moylans Hopsickle
- Odell IPA
- Oskar Blues G’Night
- Ska Decedent
- Stone IPA
- Sun Up Trooper
- Widmer Pitch Black
Chili-makers will compete in two categories – Texas Red and Anything Goes – for bronze, silver and gold medals and for the honor of having their recipe featured on the Hungry Monk’s menu for a week. The competition will run noon to 4 p.m., with winners announced at 5 p.m.
Live music will be provided by Take Cover from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. and Blues/Jazz from 5 to 8 p.m.
Admission to the Hoptoberfest & Chili Cook Off is $10 and includes 10 4-ounce beer or 2-ounce chili samples. Additional samples can be purchased for $1 each.
If you can’t attend the festival, most of the IPAs will be on tap at Hungry Monk from Oct. 27-30.
