Enjoy a taste of Central California when The Hungry Monk in Chandler hosts its annual Parabola tasting – featuring Firestone Walker’s highly rated Russian imperial stout – from 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 23.

The tasting also will include several of beers from the Paso Robles, Calif., brewery:

  • Stickee Monkey quad
  • Luponic Revolution 006 (experimental hops series)
  • 805 blonde ale
  • Union Jack IPA

A special food menu will feature Santa Maria style tri tip dishes.

Romeo’s Euro Cafe in Gilbert holds its weekly ‘‘Taste of Romeo’s’’ dinner, hosted by chef Romeo Taus and his wife, Janice, in a private dinning room, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 22.

The dinners typically feature five courses selected from the restaurant’s regular menu. This week’s selections:

  • Spicy Lamb Potatoes
  • Greek Salad
  • Chicken Ziti
  • Risi Bisi con Milanesa (pictured)
  • Raspberry Chocolate Mousse Tart

Fresh off its April Fool’s Day-themed beer dinner, SunUp Brewing in Phoenix is hosting a Smoke & Mirrors beer dinner – ‘‘where nothing is as what it appears’’ – at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 13.

The evening features five SunUp beers and four dishes:

  • App: Smoked pork sausage with fresh fruit and seared potato.
  • Salad: Spicy cabbage with smoked red peppers, carrots, and zucchini, with cucumbers and avocado emulsion.
  • Entree: BBQ beef brisket with cheesy cauliflower, and golden beets.
  • Desserts: Smoked white chocolate with candied brioche and fresh raspberries and honeydew.

A vegetarian version also is available. Cost is $30 per person. Tickets can be purchased at the brewpub or online.

  • Broiled Chicken Salad: Grilled chicken tossed with artichokes, roasted red peppers, black olives, green onions, walnuts lettuce greens and a lemon-mustard sauce.
  • Sainte Victoire: Broiled chicken topped with kasseri cheese and raspberry-honey-Dijon sauce, with sauteed vegetables (pictured).
  • Vasco De Gama: Sautéed chicken and gulf shrimp, carrots, mushrooms, green onions, sun-dried tomatoes, curry-mustard seed sauce, bow tie pasta, pistachios.
  • Raspberry White Chocolate: Creamy cheesecake made with real raspberry puree.

1. The eighth annual Great American Barbeque & Beer Festival returns to Dr. A.J. Chandler Park in downtown Chandler from noon-10 p.m. Saturday.

2. More than 60 BBQ and food vendors will serve more than 20,000 pounds of smoked meats. Other food options will include brats, hot dogs, corn dogs, fry bread, churros, ice cream, and more.

3. Downtown Chandler’s SanTan Brewing will provide more than 200 kegs of craft beer.

4. Festival activities will include live country music, a March Madness lounge, grilling demonstrations, a kids zone, eating competitions, mechanical bull riding, lawn games, and 100-plus exhibitors.

5. General admission is $15 online or $20 at the gate. Children 12 years and younger are free. Food and beverages are sold separately.

In a rematch of last year’s World Series, the Chicago Cubs face the Cleveland Indians in a Cactus League game in Mesa on Friday.

In honor of the Cubs’ Series win last November – which broke the franchise’s 107-year-old ‘‘Curse of the Billy Goat’’ – The Brass Tap at Mesa Riverview is holding an ‘‘I Ain’t Afraid of No Goat’’ party.

The highlight will be two goats roasted in the parking for a post-game street party. You’ll get a pint of Huss Magic in the Ivy and a bowl of teriyaki goat over pineapple and rice for $20.

Other beers on tap will include:

  • Bell’s Hopslam double IPA
  • Lagunitas High West-ified imperial coffee stout
  • Huss barrel-aged Koffee Kolsch
  • Goose Island Bourbon County Stout
  • 12 West/Oro Cubs Way Kolsch

A silent auction of two Goose Island corn hole boards will raise money for the family of late Valley brewer Ian Campbell-O’ Neill.

There also will be a raffle of Cubs gear and ticket giveaways for the Great American BBQ & Beer Fest on Saturday. (Note: Auction and raffles are cash-only).

Doors will open at 10 a.m. for pre-game festivities. The Cactus League game starts at 1:05 p.m. at nearby Sloan Park.

Thursday: Elevation brewer & Paint Night at 55 Chicago in Chandler

Downtown Chandler’s 55 Chicago is hosting a pair of events Thursday.

From 5-7 p.m., you can stop by and meet the head brewer from Elevation Brewing. The Colorado brewery’s notable offerings include Apis IV quad, Oil Man imperial stout, and First Cast IPA.

From 6-8:30 p.m., an artist from Burst of Butterflies will help you create the Dandelion Trio during a Paint Night. The $32 class includes canvas and all painting supplies. Register here.
