Pedal Haus brewer Derek Osborne and Craft 64 chef Josh Ivey team up as part of the downtown Tempe brewery’s Chefs Brew Beer Series from noon-3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18.

The highlight of the event will be the tapping of their collaboration beer, Currant Affairs, a Belgian abbey ale brewed with blueberries and cassis (black currant syrup) and fermented in Zinfandel barrels for 10 months.

Pints will be $5 while supplies last.

Ivey also will offer three small plates:

  • Buffalo di Mozzarella: Mozzarella from Capania, Italy; heirloom tomatoes; arugula; pesto; basil ($5).
  • Polpetta con Uovo: Beef/pork meatball, classic tomato sauce, housemade mozzarella, and sunny side up egg ($5).
  • Craft 64 Pizzetta: 8-inch pizza with arugula pesto, housemade mozzarella, Pedal Haus roasted chicken, and goat cheese ($5).

In addition, Pedal Haus’ regular all-day Sunday specials include $3 select Pedal Haus beers, $3 mimosas, $4 Bloody Marys, $5 margaritas, and half-off wings.

A follow-up event will be held Monday, Feb. 19, at Craft 64 in Old Town Scottsdale. Meet the brewers and keep the pint glass.

A few seats remain for the Arizona Beer Week six-course tacos and beer dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at The Hungry Monk in Chandler.

The tacos created by beer chef Gidi Goldberg and the beer pairings are:

  • Mahi Fish: Pan-seared mahi mahi, charred pineapple slaw, pico de gallo, Baja sauce, flour tortilla. Paired with Pedal Haus Hoppy Lager.
  • 5-Layer Pig: Beer-braised mojo pork, chorizo, pork belly cracklins, bacon aioli, pig something, salsa verde, corn tortillas. Paired with Borderlands Toole Ave.
  • BBQ Goat: Beer-braised goat, pickled Fresno chile, cilantro, cotija, house BeerBQ sauce, avocado crème, corn tortillas. Beer pairing TBA.
  • Smoked Prime Rib: Smoked espresso-crusted prime rib, roasted garlic horseradish aioli, crispy onion, red cabbage slaw, cotija cheese, corn tortillas. Paired with Huss Koffee Kolsch.
  • Smoked Chicken & Waffle: Smoked chicken, housemade stout mole, crispy chicken skin, red onion, cilantro, fried quail egg, waffle taco. Paired with Scottsdale Beer Texas Tea.
  • South of the Border Dessert: Udder Delights Mexican chocolate stout ice cream, caramelized banana, strawberry salsa, cinnamon stout whip, fried tortilla.

JC’s Steakhouse in Gilbert will offer a Dueling Pianos Valentine’s Dinner with two seatings on Wednesday, Feb. 14.

The menu:

  • Appetizer plate: Ricotta sopraffina with mango chutney; tomato and burrato tower (two of each).
  • Soup & salad: Shrimp bourbon bisque; strawberry goat cheese (one of each).
  • Entrees: Beef Wellington tart; crab-and-shrimp-stuffed Alaskan halibut; coriander-crusted stuffed pork loin; maple roasted half chicken(choice of two).
  • Dessert: Chocolate Yin & Yang (for two).

The two shows will be 5:30-7:15 p.m. and 8-9:45.

Cost is $140 per couple. Reservations required: 480-306-4545. No walk-ins.

Tempe distillery Adventurous Stills rolls out the second release of its quarterly Explorers Club series – a barrel-rested gin – with a celebration from 1-8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10.

The distillery took its Camelback Gin recipe, dialed up the botanicals and let it sit in a bourbon barrel for four months. At 100 proof, the gin is described as ‘‘smooth as a baby’s bottom …. (with) notes of warm cinnamon, coriander, and nutmeg.’’

Members of the Explorers Club are guaranteed a bottle; the rest of the limited release will be available to the public until sold out. One bottle will be raffled off to a customer for a penny on Saturday.

Other than Explorer Club bottles, you can enjoy $5 cocktails and $3 off all other bottles all day Saturday.

Adventurous Stills is located in the industrial area southeast of Tempe Marketplace.

The third annual Pints for Paws, a fundraiser for Arizona Humane Society, kicks off Thursday, Feb. 8, at Uncle Bear’s three East Valley locations in Ahwatukee, Mesa, and Queen Creek.

For the duration of Arizona Beer Week, which runs Feb. 8-18, Uncle Bear’s will donate $1 from every craft beer sold to AHS.

Homeless pets also will benefit from Pints for Paws T-shirts and paw prints sales.

Additionally, on Saturday, Feb. 17, all three Uncle Bear’s locations will donate 15% of total sales between 10 a.m.-5 p.m. to AHS. From noon-4 p.m., adoptable pets will be on-site.

Ever wonder what it’s like to be a professional brewer? SunUp Brewing in Phoenix is giving is giving you three chances during Arizona Beer Week to win a day of beer education and brewing practice with brewer Ross Perz.

You can enter the drawing at any of these three events at SunUp:

  • Thursday, Feb. 8: The release of the brewery’s new Nein Hops Kumquat Ale from 4-7 p.m.
  • Saturday, Feb. 10: The brewery’s Burly Beer Bash, featuring eight strong ales, from 11 a.m.-11 p.m.
  • Saturday, Feb. 17: The brewery’s Beer Pong Tournament from 4-7 p.m.

Although it opened nearly two weeks ago, Flying Basset Brewing in Gilbert will hold its official grand opening celebration all day Thursday, Feb. 8.

Specials will include $3 off all draft beers and $2 off all cans, bottles, and cocktails.

There also will be a rib special and a raffle for prizes.

Doors open at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Brooklyn V’s Pizza‘s rotating stable of popular entertainers welcomes a new member this week when Laura Fial & Friends take the stage from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, at the pizzeria’s Gilbert location.

You may recognize Fial, who’s been performing professionally for 20 years, from singing the national anthem for Arizona’s various sports teams.

The New Jersey native sings a wide variety of music – from jazz to Motown to ’70s and ’80s standards. She also takes requests.

There is no cover charge at Brooklyn V’s, which is located on the northeast corner of Lindsay and Warner.

Arby’s is remodeling its older fast-food restaurants, and the new look makes its East Valley debut today at the Arby’s on the southeast corner of Roosevelt and Broadway in Tempe.

The restaurant will celebrate by giving away free turnovers today.

There also will be live music, face painting, and balloons Friday and Saturday. A roast beef sandwich eating contest will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday.

AZ Feastivals, the organizer of several weekly food truck roundups in the East Valley, is jumping on the Taco Tuesday bandwagon.

From 5:30-8:30 p.m. today, Superstition Farm in southeast Mesa will host six trucks in the group’s first-ever Taco Tuesday food truck roundup.

Besides their full regular menus, the trucks will offer a $3 taco special or a two-for-$5 taco special.

The participating trucks will include:

  • Arizona Tacos
  • Boca Taco Truck
  • Drive Wood Fired Grill
  • DGP Gourmet Fry Bread
  • Mama J’s Cafe

Superstition Farm will have its milk bar and petting zoo open. There also will be hay rides.
