The Henhouse Cafe, a group of East Valley breakfast and lunch restaurants, has opened its fourth location on the northwest corner of Rural and Ray in south Tempe.

The space: It takes over the space formerly home to Babbo Italian Eatery.

The menu: Highlights include the Kitchen Sink Omelet, Morning Meatloaf, Strawberry Cheesecake French Toast, and oversized Mom’s Famous Pancakes (pictured).

Other locations: Two in Gilbert and another at Mesa Riverview.

Open: 6:30 a.m.-2 p.m. daily.

Peacock Wine Bar in Gilbert will host a Halloween cookie decorating class from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25.

What: Vickie from Mae’s Cookie Jar will teach you how to decorate six sugar cookies, covering the basics of outlining and flooding decorating techniques.

  • The class is for participants ages 9 and up.

TwentyThree01, a high-end nightclub with indoor-outdoor table service, DJs, and a late-night food menu, opens at 8 p.m. Saturday next to The Forum co-working space near the southwest corner of Gilbert and Germann in south Chandler.

Nationally renowned Bitter & Twisted Cocktail Parlour in downtown Phoenix has temporarily closed but will reopen Nov. 1 with acclaimed Jamaican restaurant The Breadfruit & Rum Bar taking over its kitchen.

  • The owners of the new Moxy hotel being built above Bitter & Twisted have bought out the bar for the rest of the month to speed up construction.

The backstory: Dwayne Allen and wife Danielle Leoni operated The Breadfruit for 12 years in downtown Phoenix before closing in March 2020 due to the covid-19 pandemic.

  • Word leaked last month that The Breadfruit would take over Bitter & Twisted’s kitchen, but no details were announced.

What to expect: Allen says a casual menu for Bitter & Twisted by new chef Shane Jackson will be a teaser of what to expect when The Breadfruit reopens its own space.

  • Offerings will include longtime Breadfruit favorites like Red Stripe curried shrimp (pictured), jerk chicken off the grill, and cinnamon-dusted sweet plantains.

The quote: ‘‘We decided to roll out a tight little menu at Bitter & Twisted to give our longtime fans a taste of that familiar flavor, plus a few new items such as jerk pork, which we never did at The Breadfruit,’’ Allen says.

Ghett Yo Wings will offer 61-cent wings Saturday for its grand opening at Christown Spectrum mall on the southwest corner of 15th Avenue and Bethany Home in Phoenix.

The menu: Grilled, naked, breaded, or boneless wings (fresh, never frozen) in 17 flavors; burgers; and hand-battered fish and shrimp.

The backstory: Ghett Yo Wings is a new sibling concept to Ghett Yo Taco in Chandler and Ghett Yo Pizza, Sliders & More in Ahwatukee;

  • Recently refurbished Christown Spectrum opened 61 years ago in 1961.

Free wings: The first 100 customers at 10 a.m. Saturday will get free wings for a year (six wings per week for 52 weeks);

  • Anyone born in 1961 who signs up Saturday will get free wings for life (six wings per week).

Open: 10 a.m.-midnight daily.

Japanese-inspired Kitsune Brewing, Arizona’s only Black-owned craft brewery, opens at noon Friday on the southeast corner of Bell and 32nd Street in north Phoenix.

The backstory: Owner Tyler Smith, who worked for Nike for a decade, has been brewing Kitsune beers at Simple Machine Brewing since 2020 while working on launching his brewery and taproom.

The namesake mascot: In Japanese folklore, kitsune are foxes that possess paranormal abilities.

Did you know? Kitsune has no kitchen, but Smith has plans to launch a ramen shop next door.

Open: Noon-9 p.m. Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and noon-6 p.m. Sunday. Closed Monday and Wednesday.

Angry Chickz – yet another Nashville hot chicken chain, this one out of California – make its Arizona debut at 11 a.m. Friday on the northwest corner of Bell and 51st Avenue in Glendale.

The menu: Chicken tenders, served in sandwiches or over rice, in six heat levels.

  • The hottest, Angry, uses Carolina Reaper and Ghost peppers.
  • You must be 18 to order the Angry level and sign a waiver.

Hello..Indian Kitchen, a restaurant offering an all-halal menu of traditional and modern Indian cuisine, has opened in a strip-mall on the northwest corner of the 101 and Raintree in north Scottsdale.

The menu: Chicken, lamb, and goat entrees; south Indian dosas and curry; tandoor items; biryanis; and more.

Chefs Adam Allison (Handlebar Diner, Brightside Burgers) and Jeff Kraus (Crêpe Bar) are collaborating on a new restaurant in downtown Mesa in 2023, Allison reveals on social media.
