Tough times for Scottsdale restaurateurs

By Jess Harter Monday, January 31, 2011

The recession hasn’t been kind to some of Scottsdale’s high-profile restaurateurs. According to the Republic, the damages include:

• Aaron May, a high-flying chef who walked away from two restaurant leases at DC Ranch, is saddled with $1.75 million in legal debts.

• Robert McGrath, a James Beard Award-winning chef, filed for bankruptcy with $1 million in debts after his signature restaurant failed before launch.

• Peter Kasperski, owner of Cowboy Ciao who was forced to close another restaurant in downtown Scottsdale after the economy tanked, faces a lawsuit over a $250,000 loan default.
