Payton Curry leaves Caffe Boa

By Jess Harter Sunday, February 20, 2011

After 16 months at Caffe Boa, chef Payton Curry has given notice. His final day at the downtown Tempe restaurant and its year-old sibling, Caffe Boa Bistro in east Mesa, will be Monday.

The 31-year-old plans to open his own restaurant in Arcadia:

It’s time to take my career in my own hands. It’s time to be my own FnB or Binkley’s.

Curry came to the Valley to open Digestif in Old Town Scottsdale in 2008. The Cal-Ital restaurant closed in 2009.

Sous chefs Matt Smith and Nick Sheley will take over Caffe Boa and Boa Bistro, respectively.
