After a week of VIP parties, Sam Fox’s latest restaurant concept – The Arrogant Butcher at downtown Phoenix’s CityScape – opens to the public today.
The menu can be described as elevated comfort food.
For lunch, there’s a roasted squash and brussels sprouts salad ($11), a ham and egg sandwich on a cheddar biscuit ($8) and a turkey sloppy joe with poblano and homemade potato chips ($9).
Dinner entrees include a braised pork shank with baked beans and collard greens ($19) and beef short rib stew with green chiles, fried egg and cornbread ($16.)
There’s a different special each day: meatloaf on Mondays, rainbow trout on Tuesdays, etc.
Arizona breweries – Four Peaks, SanTan and five others – dominate the beer list, but there’s just one Arizona vintage on the 24-selection wine list.
The Arrogant Butcher is open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday. There’s also a Saturday brunch menu. The restaurant is closed Sundays.
