Edible Phoenix has published a nice profile of one of the Valley’s most mysterious personalties: Arizona Republic restaurant critic Howard Seftel.
The piece touches on what’s in Seftel’s kitchen, who cooks in his house, the various places he’s lived and how he got started in restaurant reviewing.
His advice to fledging critics:
If you want to be a food writer: travel, eat, write. Life experience is most important. You have to really like food, be interested in it and you have to be a good writer. That’s about it.
