New Scottsdale taqueria El Hefe will offer self-serve beer taps

Tired of slow-moving bar servers? A new Scottsdale taqueria will unveil the city’s first self-serve beer system for customers.

El Hefe Super Macho Taqueria, located near Axis-Radius and the W Scottsdale Hotel, will hold its grand-opening party March 23.

Booths will have their own beer taps. Each person gets a first round of 32 ounces of Coors Light or Dos Equis, controlled by the server through a meter at the bar like at a gas pump.

Co-owner Jon Wright explains:

The beer-tap system is separate from the rest of the place. When you reach the maximum number of ounces you’re allowed, it cuts off. It’s an interactive experience and also controls alcohol consumption. When you run out, the server will check to see if you’re OK to have more, and then refill the beer.

Rock Bottom Brewery in Glendale was the first Arizona restaurant in the state to install the self-serve taps.
