Arizona’s craft beer industry continues to grow. The latest example: Borderland’s Brewing Company, which is scheduled to open in Tucson in July.
Borderlands is the brainchild of Mike Mallozzi, a microbiologist, and Myles Stone, a medical student. They’re currently renovating a century-old downtown warehouse.
Stone says he wants to keep Borderlands local for a couple of years before looking to expand:
Right now we are going to start off in Tucson. There are 1,600 bars and restaurants in town and we are looking to be in a few of them and grow through the Southwest.
The pair plan to offer a stout, a brown ale, a lager, an IPA and an amber, as well as seasonal beers like a prickly pear wheat and a vanilla porter.
