Cycle pop-up restaurant debuts Friday with Tracy Dempsey & Filipino food truck

Cycle, a pop-up restaurant space for the next three months at downtown Phoenix’s under-renovation Lexington Hotel, makes its much-ballyhooed debut Friday night with the Hey Joe Filipino Street Food truck outside and guest chef Tracy Dempsey (pictured) serving sweet and savory bites like Lisa G’s meatballs inside from 6 to 10 p.m.

Before you get excited, reservations for the 30 indoor seats were taken at 4 p.m. Wednesday and quickly snapped up, but organizers promise there’ll be plenty of seating outside for the Filipino food truck – assuming you want to brave near-100-degree temperatures to eat at a food truck you could visit almost any day.

As much as we enjoy Dempsey’s bacon-flavored cookies and Lisa G’s meatballs, we’ve been doing so for years. Given all the hype for the past month about Cycle, we expected something a little more … well, special. Maybe a more accurate name would have been Recycle?
