Arizona has its first Native American wine: Fire Mountain.
Jamie Fullmer, a member of the Yavapai-Apache Nation, has enlisted winemaker Eric Glomski to make three varietals from grapes grown on ancestral lands in Arizona and California.
Glomski owns Page Springs Vineyards & Cellars near Cornville and is a partner in Arizona Stronghold Vineyards near Willcox.
For Fire Mountain Wines, Glomski is making three varietals:
- Red “Earthâ€: A proprietary blend of several Arizona-sourced red varietals.
- White “Windâ€: A blend of Verde Valley-sourced Malvasia, Chenin Blanc, Roussanne, Muscat and Pinot Gris.
- Red “Fireâ€: A blend of Petite Sirah, Syrah and Muscat grapes from California.
The wines, crafted and bottled in Page Springs, debuted earlier this month at the Heard Museum. Distribution details are expected to be finalized in July.
