The MXSW staff has been around long enough to remember when any discussion about fine dining in the Valley inevitably would include Top of the Rock in Tempe.
Sadly, it’s been almost two decades since the Buttes Resort’s showcase restaurant garnered that kind of attention.
Now, though, it’s trying to get back into the game with new chef Akos Szabo, whose career includes stints at now-defunct Mary Elaine’s in Phoenix, the Palmer House in Chicago and Brasserie Jo in Boston.
While Szabo overhauls the menu, the resort is renovating the restaurant’s decor.
