Tram Mai, Talavera to host Japan fundraising dinner May 6

Channel 12 personality Tram Mai (pictured) and the Four Seasons Scottsdale’s Talavera have put together a “Flavors of Japan” fundraising dinner for the country’s earthquake and tsunami victims.

The four-course dinner, which will take place in the resort’s demo kitchen, will feature casual conversation between Mai, chef Mel Mecinas and diners as Mecinas prepares each course.

Tickets for the May 6 dinner are $250 per person, with all proceeds going to the American Red Cross. Reservations: (480) 513-5085.

The courses:

  • Reception: Avocado tempura with chili reduction and sesame chicken skewers with yuzu vinaigrette.
  • Amuse: Lobster semi-carpaccio with osetra caviar.
  • 1st course: King crab and beef roulade with ponzu.
  • 2nd course: Hamachi tiradito with toro, uni and wakame.
  • 3rd course: Strip loin wagyu with Okinawa potatoes and candied ginger reduction.
  • Dessert: Lychee sorbet and oolong créme brûlée.
  • Beverage: Cherry Blossom cocktail.
