Attorneys general say Pabst’s fruit-flavored Blast is dangerous

By Jess Harter Thursday, April 21, 2011

More than a dozen state attorneys general – including Arizona’s Tom Horne – have asked Pabst Brewing Co. to change or discontinue Blast, the company’s new fruit-flavored malt beverage with 12% alcohol.

The alcohol in one 23.5-ounce can is equal to four or five regular 12-ounce beers, leading the state officials to call it a “binge in a can.” They contend the Colt 45 spinoff, pitched in ads by rapper Snoop Dogg, is aimed at young and underage drinkers.

No response yet from Pabst, which is the fifth-largest U.S. beer supplier by sales.
