Looks like the Valley will have one less all-you-can-eat option: LJ’s Pizza, the 38-year-old Mesa pizzeria best-known for its lunch buffet, will close next month.
Owner Clay Moser says the number of pizzas served during the lunch buffet has dropped from 69,000 in the ’90s (when the lunch-hour line stretched out the door) to just 18,000 last year.
Moser, who blames the general decline of the central Mesa neighborhood, hasn’t announced LJ’s final day:
One Monday morning, I’m just not going to be open and I haven’t decided on that date. I really don’t want the fanfare.
