Joe’s Real BBQ in Gilbert will be handing out free meals today for its 12th annual Free BBQ Day. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m., about 5,000 people will be served:
- BBQ sandwich (pulled pork or chicken breast)
- BBQ beans
- Coleslaw
- Drink
This year, Joe’s is teaming with Loving Through Literacy. Although donations are not required, participants are encouraged to bring new or gently used books of any type.
Be prepared: The line for Free BBQ Day typically stretches several blocks (pictured), and today’s forecast calls for a high near 100 degrees.
