Taste of the Nation – a nationwide series of culinary events to raise money for Share Our Strength, a nonprofit group fighting childhood hunger in America – comes to the Valley on Friday.

Organizers say about 20 tickets remain for the evening at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Resort that will begin with a 5:30 p.m. cocktail party featuring a mixology competition with 14 local bartenders.

A seated, five-course dinner with wine pairings will follow at 6:30 p.m. A different restaurant will prepare a uniquel menu for each table of 10 people.

Participating restaurants include Bourbon Steak, Deseo, Elements, La Hacienda, Brittlebush Bar & Grill, Province, 5th and Wine, Talavera, T. Cook’s, Smart Kitchen, chef Aaron May, Don & Charlie’s, Fred’s at Barney’s, Nourish and L’Auberge de Sedona.

Tickets are $100 for general admission, which includes a gift bag. VIP admission is $250, which allows diners to choose their table (based on availability), enter the cocktail party at 5 and receive an extra-swanky gift bag.
