Customers help turn Tempe’s Culinary Solutions Cafe into Mark’s Cafe

By Jess Harter Monday, May 16, 2011

Struggling like many other restaurants during the recession, Culinary Solutions Cafe in Tempe came up with a unique way to renovate. Taking a customer’s suggestion, it turned to social media and other local businesses:

  • Customers helped with the demolition of the interior
  • Builders, designers and painters donated their services
  • Pasta fundraisers offset $3,500 of the costs for flooring and new cabinets

The restaurant, which reopens Wednesday, even has a new name: Mark’s Cafe.
