Today: Downtown Chandler Oktoberfest features music, contests, food & beer

The calendar may say September, but SanTan Brewing celebrates Oktoberfest from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. today at A.J. Chandler Park in downtown Chandler.

As many as 5,000 people are expected to enjoy polka music, strong man competitions, a bratwurst-eating contest, a beer maid contest. There also will be children’s games and activities during the afternoon.

SanTan Brewing will be selling its new Octoberfest seasonal ale. Other Arizona craft brewers will include Sun Up Brewing Co., Sonoran Brewing, Thunder Canyon Brewery, Papago Brewing and Grand Canyon Brewing Co.

Alternative rockers Lit will be tonight’s music headliner.

Admission is $10.
