Steve Chucri, longtime president and CEO of the Arizona Restaurant Association, announced today he will run for a seat on the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.
The 41-year-old Mesa resident will challenge incumbent Don Stapley for his East Valley seat next fall. Stapley has served on the five-member board since 1997.
The ARA acts as a legislative lobbyist for the state’s restaurant industry. It also offers educational and training programs.
Last week, Michael Monti, a member of the ARA’s board of directors, announced his intention to run for Tempe mayor next fall. Monti owns Monti’s La Casa Vieja.
