Flancer’s is accepting entries for its third annual Dessert Showdown.
If you have a great dessert, bring the recipe and a sample of it for Flancer’s tasters to either the Gilbert or Mesa restaurant through Friday, Oct. 14.
Finalists will compete in the Dessert Showdown at the Mesa restaurant on Sunday, Oct. 16. Desserts will be judged on visual appeal, taste, originality, ease of recipe and availability of ingredients.
The winner will have his or her name and dessert featured on Flancer’s menu for one year, with a portion of the proceeds donated to a charity of their choice. In addition, the winner will receive a $100 gift certificate and a trophy.
Thousands of dollars were raised for a Mesa girl who had a heart transplant (thanks to  2009 winner Linda Collins’ “Penny’s Tin Roofâ€) and Gabriel’s Angels (thanks to 2010 winner Zee Peters’ “Gabriel’s Rockin’ Chocolate Pie,†pictured).
