Cathy’s Rum Cake Caterers, a Valley institution for nearly 37 years, has closed its last remaining location in Chandler, the Republic reports. Over the last year, Cathy’s had closed its Scottsdale and Phoenix locations.
Owner Cathy Bua blames the struggling economy for the closure of her business, which had 25 workers and was producing as many as 300 cakes per week a couple years ago.
