SalsaSorry for the last-minute notice, but here’s an event I just found out about: The first-ever Arizona Salsa Festival will take place this afternoon at Tumbleweed Park (map) in Chandler.

The fest, which runs noon to 6 p.m., features competition in three categories: hot, mild and non-traditional. The winner gets a $1,000 cash prize.

Admission is $10 (free for kids 12 and under), which gets you a bag of chips to sample the salsas.

There’ll also be live music, a beer and margarita garden, a food court, and a children’s fun zone.
