Lost AbbeyIn what’s sure to be one of the Valley’s top beer events this month, the Hungry Monk is hosting a special evening with Lost Abbey and Port Brewing on Thursday.

Reps for the San Diego sibling breweries – Port produces West Coast-style beers and Lost Abbey focuses on Belgian inspirations – will be at the Chandler restaurant and craft beer bar from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Angel’s Share, a bourbon barrel-aged American strong ale from Lost Abbey, will be tapped at 5:30 p.m. The beer, which has a ABV of 12.5%, sits for a year in its oak cask.

Santa’s Little Helper, a bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout from Port, will be tapped at 6 p.m. It’s sometimes jokingly referred to as “Satan’s Little Hangover” due to its 10.5% ABV.

Other beers will include Judgment Day, Lost Abbey’s award-winning Belgian quad-style ale, and Ten Commandments, a souped-up (9.5% ABV) seasonal version of Lost Abbey’s Belgian dark ale Lost and Found.

The evening also will feature a stein-holding contest during halftime of the televised NFL game between the Steelers and Browns (approximately 7:30).
