Old Country Buffet parent declares bankrupcty, Mesa locations still open

Buffets Inc., the parent company of Hometown Buffet and Old Country Buffet, has declared bankruptcy for the second time in four years.

The company, which has 494 restaurants in 38 states, announced it will close 81 restaurants.

The East Valley’s only two remaining Old Country Buffets – both in Mesa, one at Baseline and Stapley, the other at Southern and Power – will remain open.

The chain already had closed all its Hometown Buffets in the East Valley.
