The sixth incarnation of Il Vinaio‘s popular Beer & Donuts tasting took place Saturday. Here were the pairings (from left):
- Cream cheese-frosted carrot cake doughnut with Four Peaks Sunbru Kolsch
- Mustard rye fritter with Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye IPA
- Pineapple-filled doughnut with Odell Myrcenary Double IPA
- Molasses-frosted cake doughnut with Odell Mountain Standard Double Black IPA
My fave was the pineapple-filled, both for the doughnut itself and the pairing, with the molasses-frosted coming in a strong second. But, as usual, all were good. What would you expect? It’s beer and doughnuts.
About 75 people managed to snag one of the coveted reservations for the event, which debuted in 2010. It was held twice the first year and three times last year – each time with different doughnuts and beers.
