Arizona Beer Week runs through Saturday. Here are some of today’s highlights:
Hot Scotchys
What’s a Hot Scotchy? It’s a “beer cocktail” made by taking wort, the hot malt sugar of a beer mash, and adding Scotch (or sometimes whiskey). The Scotch intensifies the flavors of the unhopped malt.
As there are an almost endless variety of beers, so too are there an almost endless variety of Hot Scotchys. And since only brewers typically have access to wort, Hot Scotchys are rarely available to the public.
The Arizona Society of Homebrewers is teaming up with The Hungry Monk to offer the drinks from 6:30 to 10:30 tonight at the Chandler restaurant. It’s believed to be the first time Hot Scotchys have ever been sold in Arizona.
Manless Monday
The female staff of SanTan Brewing host their annual women-only event at 6:30 tonight. This year it’s a tasting of six different grilled cheese sandwiches paired with six beers. If you didn’t get your tickets yet, you’re out of luck. The event is sold out.
McClintock McBeer McTour
The staff from Four Peaks Brewing hits the road to talk about beer at four Tempe venues: Mac’s Broiler & Tap (5-7 p.m.), Tempe Tavern (5-6:30 p.m.), Flanny’s (6:30-8 p.m.) and Lucky Break (8-10 p.m.).
